The Live Event Interaction & Printing position reports to our Live Event Coordinator and is an on-call position responsible for day-of activities related to setup of Live Printing area (manual press(es), screens, inks, dryer), quickly and expertly printing garments (1-4 colors), problem solving technical print and press issues that may come up (troubleshooting registration, pinholes, off contact, consistent print quality), while engaging and educating customers about the art of screen-printing. You will be contacted 1-2 weeks in advance with event details to see if you are available. Time commitments for a single event range from 4-8 hours, usually on weekends, and our ‘event season’ is heavily concentrated in the Fall. 


Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed written instruction from Live Event Coordinator about the set-up of screen printing equipment, equipment load-in process, set-up of Live Event floor-plan, and proper use of the Live Printing equipment.

  • Working quickly within tight time parameters for loading, setting-up and breaking down materials

  • You are the public ‘face’ of CREAM, ensure that our high standards of friendly professionalism are met with all interactions 

  • Communicate and collaborate with Live Event - Interaction & Retail Person on day-of event responsibilities including a speedy set-up, maintaining a clean space, and engaging customers based on the goals of the event.

  • Quickly and expertly print garments to customer specifications while engaging and educating on the basics of the screen-printing process and what CREAM is and does

  • Be flexible and able to adapt to our varied Live Events (Marketing Focused Events where all garments are given away for free where a positive customer experience is a priority, Sales Focused Events where high-volume and speed are a priority, and Community Focused Events where education and skills-sharing are a priority. Live Events will usually have a mixture of these priorities and adapting to them is an important part of working Live Events)

  • Adapt to situations and problem solve common printing issues in busy and sometimes crowded event spaces


Skills Required*

  • Able to achieve consistent print quality on 1-4 color jobs on a manual press

  • Able to troubleshoot print issues such as registration, pinholes, off contact, and basic dryer issues

  • Able to mix ink and burn screens to required specifications

  • Reliable and responsible

  • Detail oriented

  • Able to think on your feet and solve problems alone and with others

  • Able to interact and make connections with a steady stream of people while maintaining energy and professionalism 

  • Ability to lift and load materials up to 20 pounds, and assist Event Retailer with heavier equipment

  • Climb stairs

  • Be on your feet for events ranging from 4-8 hours in indoor or outdoor locations

If would be a ‘plus’ if you...

  • Had experience with retail

  • Had a form of transportation such as a truck or SUV capable of hauling the manual press, mini dryer, 3 folding tables, and 3 boxes of materials.

  • Spoke another language (Spanish is a plus plus!)
